I3 Instrument Support Facility
Unlocking Europe’s industrial transformation through interregional investment
It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy. Various versions have evolved over the years, sometimes by accident, sometimes on purpose (injected humour and the like).
Supporting the future of European industry
The I3 Instrument is one of the European Commission’s most ambitious facilitation and funding instruments for interregional innovation across Europe. Working within a consortium of nine partners, we supported the creation, development and implementation of projects essential to the future of European industry by making I3 clear, accessible and attractive to innovation actors, from regional public authorities to SMEs.
Building bridges for the future of the European industry
We supported I3’s ambition to structure a diverse range of innovation actors into solid interregional industrial networks among and between EU regions. This involved navigating the complexity of interregional cooperation, aligning public authorities, SMEs, clusters and innovation ecosystems with different levels of maturity, and translating complex policy and funding mechanisms into clear and accessible narratives. A particular focus was placed on less developed regions, which often host under-connected centres of expertise, specialised industrial hubs and innovative SMEs. By giving visibility to these actors, the I3 Instrument helps foster a more balanced and competitive network of regional technical and industrial hubs across Europe.
Translating European competence and technicity into an identity
Our agency designed a whole visual identity that convey the idea of solid cooperation between EU regions and actors as well as the high-level of competences, technicity, and creativity that arose from the I3 instrument projects. The resulting identity supported consistent and recognisable communication across platforms and formats, helping to unify diverse regional partners and reinforce the visibility of their work. In line with this identity, we produce recurring content under complementary formats to ensure an efficient and active dialogue between actors of the I3 community.
The website we built embeds these exchanges within a shared hub of knowledge and information, fostering the engagement of innovation actors seeking to leverage European interregional cooperation to scale their projects. By centralising resources, stories and insights in one place, the platform also serves as a living reference point for the community and supports long-term engagement beyond project milestones.
Making Interregional Innovation a vivid interconnected ecosystem
By supporting the I3 Instrument over time, Old Continent played a key role in how interregional innovation is understood, shared and experienced by its stakeholders. Our work focused on translating a complex policy framework into a coherent and accessible communication ecosystem, enabling innovation actors from different regions to navigate the instrument more easily and engage in interregional cooperation. By anchoring knowledge, dialogue and project outcomes in a shared digital environment, we supported continuity beyond individual calls and milestones, contributing to a more readable, inclusive and competitive interregional innovation ecosystem at European scale.
